Adam Milne will not be able to participate in the rest of New Zealand’s European Tour, due to an Achilles injury. Milne will now only be eligible for the remaining two games of the trip against the Netherlands. Milne has been plagued with injury most of the time during his career and has now suffered another setback.

Jacob Duffy will now join New Zealand’s squad to take his spot. Duffy has made an impression while playing for the test and ODI squads in England and Ireland. On his ODI debut against the Irish at Malahide, he took 1-52 from his nine overs.

“We’re naturally disappointed for Adam,” said coach Shane Jurgensen on Friday (July 15).

“He’s a great character in any team and I am sure he’ll apply his strong will to this next phase of rehabilitation. There is still a lot of cricket to come this year including the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, and Adam is determined to make himself available to be part of that selection picture.

We’re backing Jacob to step up. He’s made an exciting start to his white ball international career. He’s an established performer in our Dream11 Super Smash and showed on his T20I debut against Pakistan that he can transfer those skills to international cricket.”

After that, the T20 team will travel to Belfast in preparation for Monday’s first T20I. (Tuesday NZT).

Prior to the series, Ben Sears, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Michael Rippon, and the rest of the team arrived in Dublin on Thursday. Jimmy Neesham, an all-rounder, will be the last member of the team to join after competing for Northamptonshire in the current round of the County Championship.

The Black Caps will play three T20s against Ireland. Then they will play two T20s and an ODI against Scotland before concluding their European tour with two T20s against the Netherlands.

Updated squad:

Mitchell Santner (c), Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Dane Cleaver (wk), Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Michael Rippon, Ben Sears, Ish Sodhi, Blair Tickner
