England limited-overs leg-spinner Adil Rashid signed a one year contract with the county team Yorkshire on Friday. As per his new contract, he will be a part of the white-ball team until the end of the 2021 season.

Adil Rashid couldn’t play a single game for Yorkshire in the 2020 season due to his international commitments for England. He was a part of the limited-overs team of England against Ireland, Pakistan and Australia that ended last month.

In fact, he has not featured for Yorkshire in the red-ball format since 2017, and now he will only represent the side in the white-ball format.

“It’s always nice to sign a contract extension,” Rashid said.

“I’ve been at Yorkshire for such a long time, coming through the set up and playing from such a young age, so I’m thankful to Yorkshire for giving me the opportunity. For them to keep giving me contract extensions is a nice thing for myself and does mean a lot,” he added.

The 32-year-old has 301 in List A and 199 wickets in T20s of his career. Most of them have come while Yorkshire and Yorkshire 2nd XI.

“It’s great that Adil has signed a contract extension. Obviously at this stage we don’t know how the fixture list is going to fall and how that will impact on his England commitments,” Yorkshire’s director of cricket, Martyn Moxon said.
