Cricket Australia (CA) on Wednesday named the pacer Andrew Tye as the replacement of Kane Richardson for the series against India. Richardson pulled out of the forthcoming ODI and T20I series against India starting next week to spend time with his family.

India and Australia are slated to play each other for three ODIs and as many T20I, followed by four match Test series in the course of December.

“It was a difficult decision for Kane to make but one which has the complete support of the selectors and the entire playing squad,” Australia’s Trevor Hohns said.

Tye, 33, has played a total of 7 ODIs and 26 T20I matches and taken 12 and 37 wickets respectively. He also has a five-wicket haul in the ODIs and 5/17 on his debut game in the Indian Premier League.

“AJ is incredibly skilled in both forms of the short game. He impressed in the UK with his high work ethic and his positive energy around the squad,” Hohns told about Tye.

The first two match of the ODI series will be played at SCG on November 27 and 29, followed by the last ODI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on December 2. While the T20I series will be played at the same two venues from December 4-8.

After the white-ball series, the Test series will begin from December 17 at the Adelaide Oval with the pink-ball test.
