Asia Cup 2022 IND vs SL: India was restricted to 173 runs in the first innings. They made an awful as both KL Rahul (6) and Virat Kohli (0) got out cheaply. At the end of 3 overs, India was reeling at 13 for 2. Suryakumar Yadav then joined hands with Rohit Sharma to steady the ship. Both of them made a stellar recovery as they added 97 runs for the third wicket.

Skipper, Rohit Sharma was the aggressor of the two, while Suryakumar Yadav played an uncharacteristic knock of 34 runs in 29 balls. Sharma went on to play a sensational knock of 71 runs in 41 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes. His knock ended in the 13th over but the Indian skipper had done his job by then.

None of the Indian batters got going thereafter as wickets kept falling in short intervals. Sri Lanka came back strongly and picked wickets in quick succession. Suryakumar Yadav (34) followed him soon, while the likes of Pant (17), Hardik Pandya (17), and Hooda (3) couldn’t finish strongly.

In response, Sri Lanka made a brilliant start as Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis stitched a 97-run partnership for the opening wicket. India couldn’t get a single wicket in the first half of the innings. Yuzvendra Chahal finally got the team their first wicket in the form of Nissanka (52) in the 12th over. He then took two more wickets, while Ashwin took one and, suddenly, Sri Lanka lost four wickets for 110 runs.

Skipper Shanaka then came to the rescue as he along with Rajapaksa added 64 runs and guided the team home on the penultimate ball.

Asia Cup 2022 IND vs SL Brief Scores:

Sri Lanka 174 for 4 (Mendis 57, Nissanka 52, Chahal 3-34) beat India 173 for 8 (Rohit 72, Madushanka 3-24) by six wickets
