The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Tuesday postponed the upcoming Under-19 Asia Cup to the next year due to COVID-19 crisis. The Under-19 Asia Cup was slated to take place in the UAE next month, however, it has been pushed to the next year.

One of the officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed to the Cricbuzz about the postponement of the tournament.

“The Under-19 Asia Cup [that was expected to be played in November 2020] has been postponed and will be played in 2021,” BCB’s game development manager AEM Kanwar confirmed.

The ACC informed all the boards of the participating nations that a suitable schedule will be formed for staging the tournament during 2021.

“ACC is looking for a suitable date to host the tournament next year,” he said.

The seniors’ Asia Cup tournament was also postponed in order to form the window for the 13th edition of the IPL currently taking place in the UAE.

A total of eight teams were to participate in the tournament including India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the host UAE. Rest two teams were supposed to qualify for the tournament before it kickstarted in November.
