AUS vs ENG 3rd ODI: Australia wrapped up the ODI series against England with a 3-0 clean sweep as they beat the latter by a big margin of 221 runs on Tuesday at Melbourne Cricket Stadium. David Warner and Travis Head headlined the win as the duo put on a 269-run partnership for the opening wicket. English bowlers looked toothless against some sensational batting displays from Australian openers.

David Warner notched up a ton, finally, as he went on to score 106 runs in 102 balls, a knock which was laced with 8 fours and 2 sixes. His partner, Head was equally brilliant with the bat as he amassed 152 off 130, including 16 fours and 4 sixes. Mitchell Marsh’s quick-fire cameo of 30 in 16 helped the team notch a massive 355 on the board.

Making his comeback into the national side, Olly Stone picked all four wickets while conceding 85 runs in his 10 overs.

On a big ground such as Melbourne Cricket Stadium, chasing such a big score was always going to be a task. Unfortunately, their in-form batter, Dawid Malan (2 off 4) got out cheaply in the 3rd over of the innings. Roy and Vince added 42 runs for the second wicket and looked to go after the target. But Cummins then trapped Jason Roy (33 off 48) leg-before to break the partnership.

The likes of James Vince (22) and Moeen Ali (18) also were guilty of not playing big innings. Wickets kept falling in short intervals as England ended up amassing only 142 runs on the board. For Australia, Zampa, once again, was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 4 for 31 in 5.4 overs, while Pat Cummins and Sean Abbott claimed two apiece.

AUS vs ENG 3rd ODI Brief Scores:

Australia 5 for 355 (Head 152, Warner 106, Stone 4-85) beat England 142 (Roy 33, Zampa 4-31) by 221 runs (DLS method)
