AUS vs NZ 1st ODI: Team Australia is set to face New Zealand in a three-match ODI series slated to start on September 6 (Tuesday). The matches will be played at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns and both teams will be looking to start the series on a winning note.
Australia and New Zealand are all set to lock horns with each other in a three-match ODI series, starting tomorrow. All the matches will be played at Cazaly’s Stadium in Cairns.
Australia is coming into the series on the back of a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe. They received a thrashing in the last match of the series but Australia would be looking to forget the memories of that and move forward. New Zealand, on the other hand, is coming into the series on the back of an ODI series win against West Indies at home.
David Warner has been in sensational form of late and the team management will hope that the southpaw will continue the way he does. Mitchell Marsh will miss the series due to an injury while Pat Cummins has been rested. Travis Head has also made himself unavailable as his partner Jess is due to give birth to their child.
Kane Williamson returns
Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc will lead the pace-bowling department, while Adam Zampa will be the lead spinner. As for New Zealand, Kane Williamson’s form is a concern. He hasn’t played a lot of ODIs this year and the series would be a perfect opportunity for him to come back into form.
The batting unit further comprises the likes of Martin Guptill, Daryl Mitchel and Devon Conway to name a few. New Zealand has a superb fast bowling attack, which has the likes of Boult, Southee, Ferguson and Henry.
