AUS vs SL 2nd Test: After conceding 298 runs on the first day, Sri Lanka did exceedingly well to bundle Australia out for just 364 runs in the first innings. P Jayasuriya took the first wicket of the day in the form of Alex Carey in the 99th over. He scored 28 runs in 61 balls, including 4 fours.

Wickets fell in quick succession after that as the hosts picked 4 wickets for just 35 runs. Mitchell Starc scored only 1 run before departing off Jayasuriya. One over later, Rajitha had Cummins leg-before for just 5 runs. Lyon followed him in the very next over as Jayasuriya had him leg-before. Swepson and Smith added 9 more runs to the total before the former got out leg-before off Theekshana.

Australia, as a result, got all out for 364 runs at the end of the first innings. Steve Smith remained unbeaten at the crease, scoring 145 runs in 272 balls, a knock which was studded with 16 fours. P Jayasuriya starred with the ball as he returned with bowling figures of 6 for 118 in 36 overs. Rajitha picked 2 wickets before Mendis and Theekshana claimed one wicket each.

In response to the score, Sri Lanka has batted exceedingly well so far. Pathum Nissanka got out early for just 6 runs in 25 balls off Starc but Karunaratne played another stellar knock of 86 runs in just 165 balls, including 10 fours. He, eventually, got out in the 55th over off Swepson. Australia couldn’t pick a single wicket, thereafter, till the end of the day’s play.

Kusal Mendis is playing a sensational knock of 84 runs in 152 balls, including 9 fours. Angelo Mathews is giving him great support with 6 off 36 balls. At the end of the day’s play, Sri Lanka is 184 for 2 in 63 overs.
