AUS vs ZIM: The starting lineup for Cricket Australia’s first ODI match against Zimbabwe has been released. The team under Aaron Finch will compete in their first 50-over match since losing to Sri Lanka 3-2 in a series.

Many first-team players have returned to the first-team lineup. It included Adam Zampa, who missed the final ODI against Sri Lanka to attend the birth of his child. Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis, and Mitchell Starc, who had injuries during the subcontinent tour, are also making their comebacks.

David Warner and Aaron Finch are the seasoned opening pair for the full-strength playing XI. Steve Smith, who is currently vying for a berth in the T20I lineup, is ranked third in the 50-over format. Over the past two years, the former captain has only appeared in two ODIs.

Alex Carey, the wicketkeeper, is a little bit higher in the batting order. The 31-year-old has only ever played at No. 4, never at No. 3, in a national team game. The remaining batting lineup is made up of all-rounders Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, and Marcus Stoinis.

Cameron Green, a pace bowling all-rounder, is perhaps becoming a regular part of the ODI system now that he has firmly established his spot in the Test team. Mitchell Starc will direct the bowling assault along with the in-form Josh Hazlewood. The team’s starting lead spinner will be Adam Zampa.

Pat Cummins, the linchpin of the bowling attack, has been rested for the three-match ODI series. Marnus Labuschagne, Ashton Agar, and Sean Abbott didn’t make the starting lineup.

Australia will play Zimbabwe in the maiden one-day international at the Riverway Stadium in Townsville on August 28. The team led by Regis Chakabva is coming off a recent home series loss to India by a score of 3-0.
