Australia vs Sri Lanka 2022: Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Friday gave a green flag to Sri Lanka’s home series against Australia in June-July. The series will comprise three T20Is, five ODIs, and two Test matches to kick off from June 7. The series will get underway starting with a couple of T20I series at the R. Premadasa Stadium, followed by the final T20I match at Kandy, which will also host the first two ODI matches.
Colombo, Kandy, and Galle will host the white-ball series, while Galle will host the Test series which will start on June 29. This will be the first time Australia will tour Sri Lanka for a bilateral series n a period of the last five years. The last time Australia visited Sri Lanka, they lost the Test series by 3-0.
“We are in for some exciting cricket, especially considering that an Australian tour to Sri Lanka is taking place after 5 years, since last time they toured Sri Lanka,” Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said.
“The T20 Series will help our preparations for the T20I World Cup, whilst the Test and ODI segments are also competitions of immense value for us, as we aim to move through the ICC World Test Championship rankings and also gearing up for the ICC Men’s World Cup in 2023,” De Silva further added.
