Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, Asia Cup 2022, Match 03 Preview: The third match of the Asia Cup 2022 will have Bangladesh take on Afghanistan at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Afghanistan is already off the mark as they won their first game at the hands of Sri Lanka in what was their first game of the tournament played on Saturday.

The bowlers were brilliant that day as they had restricted Sri Lanka to just 105 runs on the board in the first innings. A left-arm seamer, F Farooqui had a brilliant day with the ball as he claimed the wickets of Kusal Mendis, Asalanka, and Karunaratne to dent Sri Lanka’s hopes.

The spinners too bowled equally well. While Rashid Khan was hard to score runs, Mujeeb and Nabi managed to pick 2 wickets each.

As for Sri Lanka, Rajapaksa (38 off 29) was the top-run scorer. Sri Lanka would have folded for a very low total, however, a 31-run knock from Karunaratne helped the team reach 105 runs in the first innings. Afghanistan would be pretty pleased with their bowling and would be looking to replicate that performance on Tuesday.

The likes of Farooqi picked three wickets, while Mujeeb and Nabi picked two wickets each. In pursuit of the run-chase, Afghanistan chased down the score in 10.1 overs. Zazai and Gurbaz gave the team a sensational start as they added 83 runs and killed the game completely. The former made 37 runs in 28 balls, while Gurbaz blazed his way to 40 off 18 deliveries.

Ahead of the next game, Afghanistan would be looking to continue the winning momentum. On the other hand, Bangladesh will be playing their first match of the tournament. Veteran cricketer, Shakib Al Hasan has been tasked to lead the side and Bangladesh is also looking to change their approach in the shortest format.

They have got two extremely talented openers in Naim and Sabbir Rahman, while the middle-order will have the likes of Rahim, Mahmudullah, and Shakib Al Hasan to name a few. The fast bowling duties will be shared by Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed, while Nasum Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan are two of their experienced spinners in the squad.
