Chennai Super Kings stumbled on to their fourth loss of the season after a disappointing middle order batting against the KKR. On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik had the last laugh after the bowlers pulled it off in the end, winning the game by 10 runs.

After the demoralising defeat, CSK skipper MS Dhoni pointed out where they lost the hold of the game despite a good grasp during the chase.

“In the middle overs there was a phase where they bowled 2-3 good overs. If we batted better, and didn’t lose 2-3 wickets in a row” Dhoni said.

CSK had a superb start after as Shane Watson went continued his talk with bat and scored his second consecutive fifty of the season.

The side looked in a comfortable position until Varun Chakravarthy dismissed the dangerous-looking MS Dhoni in the 17th over.

It was from that point the CSK batsmen started consuming deliveries, leading to the mounting pressure and required run rate.

“We should’ve been careful in the first 5-6 overs. Curran was really good with the ball, and I think we did well in general with the ball, but the batsmen let the bowlers down today.” Dhoni added.

Inability to rotate the strike was a very basic yet game-costing error of the CSK today which the skipper himself admitted in the post match conference.

Chennai Super Kings is at the fifth spot in the latest standings, and will now face Royal Challengers Bangalore on October 10.
