Adelaide Strikers on Monday announced of penning a contract extension with the wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey for BBL 10. Carey, 29, has been roped in by the side for the period of next four years at the club in the Big Bash League.

Carey had joined Strikers in the 6th edition of the league and scored 1163 runs in a total of 35 matches so far. During his time with the side, he has also scored one century and six half-centuries.

The wicket-keeper batsman is also one of the substantial contributors of the side with the gloves by inflicting 33 catches and 4 stumpings. His one-off century came against Hobart Hurricanes in season 7 of BBL where he reached 100 off just 56 balls.

“I’m very happy to be staying at the Strikers for the next four years being my home team and it is an unbelievable feeling playing at Adelaide Oval in front of the fans, family, and friends, and I really hope that can continue this season,” Carey said in an official statement.

“The Big Bash is a competition I have loved playing in each year since I first signed, and I can’t wait for it all to get started,” he added.

“Alex is a key part of the group, a player and leader of the highest standard, and for him to be at the Strikers for the next four years is a massive result for this franchise, the city, and our fans,” Strikers head Coach Jason Gillespie said.

Carey is currently with the Australian team for the series against India consisting of T20I, ODI and Test series starting November 27.
