Brisbane Heat on Tuesday confirmed signing the Rising Queensland pacers Xavier Bartlett and Matthew Williams ahead of BBL 10. The duo have been listed among the 19 players who will play for the first time ever in the Big Bash League.

“Rising young Queensland pace bowlers Xavier Bartlett and Matthew Willans join the Heat’s contracted list of 19 players for the first time for this summer’s Big Bash League after both quicks previously filled player roles within the organization,” the club said in a statement.

Bartlett had inked deal with Heat as a replacement of Luke Feldman in January back in 2017. Although he didn’t get to play a single game till the date but he continued to train with the side despite Feldman’s return after the injury.

Both Bartlett and Williams have played for Australia in the under-19 World Cup and Bartlett even shared team dugout with his U19 teammate Max Bryant at the Heat.

Brisbane Heat’s head coach Darren Lehmann welcomed the duo on the side and what the youngsters have on their plate for BBL 10.

“They are both fine young men and I know each of them has individually worked very hard to get to this point. It’s a credit to them and the Queensland Cricket coaches Wade Seccombe, Andy Bichel, and James Hopes that they have overcome injury and can now show the sort of skills that will make fans sit up and take notice,’ Lehmann said in a statement.
