Hobart Hurricanes on Thursday announced signing England batsman Will Jacks for the upcoming 10th edition of the BBL.

The 21-year-old batsman rose to fame after his fierce 25-ball hundred knock in a T10 contest against Lancashire in the UAE. He also set a record for the fastest century in an unofficial cricket game not supervision under the ICC.

Jack made his first-class debut back in 2018 at the age of 19, followed by his maiden century against Gloucestershire in the One day Cup. He smashed 121 runs off 100 balls and a match-winning knock for his side.

Hurricanes have acquired him for not just his explosive batting prowess, but also his part-time bowling skills. He scored 557 runs for Surrey in the Bob Willis Trophy and also the Vitality Blast tournament. Besides, he also picked 13 wickets in as many matches he played in Vitality T20 Blast.

“I am incredibly excited about joining the Hurricanes. I’ve heard from other English players how good the Big Bash is and I’m looking forward to the opportunity. We managed to reach the final of the T20 Blast at home this summer, so I’m looking forward to hopefully going one step further with Hobart,” Will Jacks said in an official Hobart Hurricanes release.

Hurricanes head coach Adam Griffith welcomed the youngster and how much his inclusion would benefit the side in the upcoming season.

“Will is an exciting young player who is coming off a very successful T20 Blast in the UK. He gives us great flexibility in our batting group, as he can open the batting, or finish the innings batting in the middle order. His off-spin bowling also adds another dimension to his game,” said Griffith.
