BBL 2021-22: Brisbane Heat put on a brilliant all-round performance to register their second win in the tournament on Thursday. Riding on a sensational knock from Ben Duckett, Brisbane Heat posted a mammoth 208-run total in the first innings. Ducket scored 78 runs off just 47 balls, a knock which was laced with 10 fours and 2 sixes. He was helped with Heazlett, who too played a vital knock of 49 runs off 30 balls. Earlier, Max Bryant provided a great start, scoring 32 off 20 balls.

Rashid Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Adelaide. He picked 3 wickets for 34 runs in 4 overs. Wes Agar and Siddle picked two apiece. All three were amongst the wickets but couldn’t stop the run flow. Adelaide Strikers didn’t make a start in pursuit of the total. The likes of Jake Weatherald (1 run of 3 balls), Mathew Short (14 off 4), and Matt Renshaw (22 off 23) went back to the hut on low scores.

Jonathan Wells (50 off 41), however, showed some resistance and gave some hope to his team. However, he found little support from the other end as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. The likes of Mathew Kuhnemann and Mark Steketee didn’t allow the opposition to get settled as they kept picking wickets throughout the course of the innings.

The duo picked three wickets each, while James Bazley picked 2 wickets. Adelaide Strikers, as a result, were folded were 169 runs, thereby losing the game by 39 wickets. Adelaide Strikers have now lost 4 matches out of five. They needed to quickly regroup themselves and come back. Otherwise, they could soon get out of the contention of reaching the knockouts.

Brisbane Heat: 208/7 in 20 overs (Ben Duckett 78 runs, Sam Heazlett 49 off 30 balls; Rashid Khan 3/34) defeated Adelaide Strikers 169/8 in 20 overs (Jonathan Wells 55 runs off 41 balls, Thomas Kelly 27 off 22 balls; Mark Steketee 3/27, Matthew Kuhnemann 3/47) by 39 wickets
