Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) gave the green signal to the banned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan resume to domestic cricket. Shakib Al Hasan will finally return to the competitive cricket after serving a ban of one year from all forms of cricket.

The all rounder was banned on October 29 last year after he was found guilty of breaching ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code. However, he is set to complete his suspension on October 29 and he will soon resume playing in the domestic T20 cricket.

BCB chairman Nazmul Hassan is also expecting the all rounder to play in the upcoming domestic T20 tournament. This is a major U-turn from the board as earlier they had insisted on not allowing Shakib to play in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

And now they are planning his return in the unnamed T20 tournament that will also mark the return of cricket in Bangladesh.

“Certainly [Shakib will play in the domestic T20 tournament]. That is all I know,” Nazmul Hasan said on Tuesday (October 6)

The board is also expecting the return of Mashrafe Mortaza after he recovered from the coronavirus.

“Mashrafe will play the next one after the three-team 50 over tournament,” Nazmul added.

“It is not that he is not interested to play the three-team 50-over game, but he had suddenly heard about it and the thing is he needs to quarantine and it will take some time for his preparation to regain his fitness, but he will play the next available tournament [domestic T20 competition],” he said.

The BCB is yet to finalize the upcoming T20 League which they named as the replacement for the tour of Sri Lanka. The T20 league will also aid the players to prepare for the upcoming T20 world cup in India.
