England Vice Captain Ben Stokes has returned to his family in New Zealand after pulling out of the Test series against Pakistan.

Apparently, his father Ged Stokes revealed that he has been struggling with brain cancer and that is why Ben fled to New Zealand to spend time with him.

The 29-year-old all-rounder played in the first test before pulling out of the entire series to meet his family. As of now he is undergoing 14 days of mandatory quarantine in New Zealand before he can meet his family in Christchurch.

Ged was hospitalized in December last year after reporting of a brain bleed during England’s tour of South Africa in Johannesburg.

“So, basically brain cancer. How that came about nobody knows but obviously I’ve had a few bangs on my head through my life so that’s probably contributed to it. It wouldn’t have helped.” Ged told the New Zealand Herald newspaper.

Stokes played a crucial role in leading England to its first World Cup triumph last year. He said that he had felt that he understood when his father bleed was a severe problem. He also praised his father for the discipline he brought as a professional sportsman in his life and how it led to his success.
