Perth Scorchers has signed a two -year contract with the wicket-keeper batsman Beth Mooney in the Woman Big Bash League.

The left-handed batsman played for Brisbane Heat in the first five seasons and also became the player of the match in the side’s two back to back titles. Mooney is the second-highest scorer in the history of the Women’s Big Bash League.

She has scored 2,576 runs at an average of 45.19 and her inclusion in the Scorchers will strengthen the batting lineup. Mooney has been in a terrific form in the last 12 months and also led Brisbane Heat to the WBBL finals in 2019 by scoring a half-century. She also helped her side in winning the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and also adjudged the player of the series.

I’m really happy with my decision to join the Scorchers for the next few seasons. I have heard great things about the people and culture at the WACA and I love the way Perth has gone about their cricket over the years,” Mooney said in an official statement.

“The move to the West is a really exciting opportunity for me to work with Christina Matthews and Shelley, two very highly regarded women and leaders of our great game, and reunite with Nicole Bolton and Heather Graham who have both been part of the Australian set-up,” she added.

The WBBL 2020 is scheduled to begin from October 17 and Cricket Australia announced the changes could be made in the schedule owing to the situation then in Australia.
