BH-W vs AS-W: The Brisbane Heat have won an important game against the Adelaide Strikers to dominate their position on the points table. Despite posting a low score, they managed to win the game by 2 runs via (the DLS method). Both sides haven’t fared too well with the bat. For the Brisbane Heat, Amelia Kerr top-scored with 32 off 28, including 2 fours.
Both the openers, D Wyatt (15 off 15) and Georgia Voll (16), got starts but couldn’t go on to play big knocks with the bat. Grace Harris departed for a duck as the Strikers had lost three wickets for 34 runs in 5.1 overs. Kerr and Knott tried to stabilize the innings by adding 22 runs for the fourth wicket but the latter got out in the 10th over.
Wickets kept falling every time it looked like a partnership was developing. As a result, Brisbane Heat was restricted to 114 runs on the board in the first innings. Schutt was the pick of the bowlers for the Strikers as she claimed 3 wickets for 38 runs in 4 overs. Dottin, on the other hand, picked 2 for 22 in 3 overs.
Adelaide Strikers, in reply, fell 2 runs short of the target. Laura Wolvaardt played a handy knock of 45 runs in 38 balls but wickets kept falling at the other end. The first five wickets fell for 60 runs inside the first 10 overs.
Laura fell in the 11th over with a score of 69. The batters kept getting out in single digits, thereafter, but an unbeaten 18 off 12 from Megan Schutt meant kept the team in the chase. Needing 10 in the final over, the Strikers scored 7 and, eventually, lost the game by 2 wickets.
