BBL 2021-22: Hobart Hurricanes are knocked out of the tournament as they lost to Adelaide Strikers by 22 runs on Friday. In pursuit of a 188-run total, Hobart Hurricanes managed 166 in the second innings.
Caleb Jewell managed to score 35 runs in 31 balls, while D’Arcy Short managed 56 runs in 34 balls. The duo kept the team in the hunt for the most part of the second innings. However, once D Arcy Short departed in the 15th, wickets fell in quick intervals. Adelaide skipper, Peter Siddle exhibited a vital spell of 4 for 32, while Conway picked 2 for 32 in 4 overs. Thornton too picked 2 for 25 in 3 overs.
Earlier, Adelaide Strikers managed to score a formidable 188-run total in the first innings.
Alex Carey and Short stitched a sensational 145-run opening partnership. Carey scored 67 runs in just 45 deliveries, while Short also played a brilliant 89-run knock in 48 deliveries. The way the duo was playing, it looked like Adelaide Strikers would easily reach the 200-run mark.
However, once Carey got out, wickets fell in a cluster and the Strikers could only manage 188 runs on the board. Though, it proved out to be more than enough. The likes of Travis Head (5), Ian Cockbain (3), and Renshaw (7) all got out on single-digit scores.
For Hobart Hurricanes, Riley Meredith, Thomas Rogers all picked 2 wickets each, while Wil Parker and Boland picked one each. As it stands, Hobart Hurricanes are knocked out of the tournament, while Adelaide Strikers will advance and play against Sydney Thunder in the knockout on Sunday.
