The Eliminator match of the Big Bash League (BBL) 2021-22 will have Adelaide Strikers take on Hobart Hurricanes on Friday. Both teams have blown hot and cold in the tournament. Adelaide Strikers finished at number four at the end of the league stage.
Adelaide Strikers are coming into the encounter on the back of an 8-wicket win over Sydney Sixers. Sydney Sixers batted first and scored 161 runs in the first innings.
Fawad Ahmed starred with the ball as he picked 3 wickets for just 16 runs in 4 overs, while Siddle picked 2 for 32 in 4 overs.
Adelaide Strikers, in reply, chased down the score in 17.3 overs. Matt Renshaw played a rollicking knock of 50 off 31 at the top of the order. Later, Ian Cockbain played an unbeaten 71-run knock off 42 balls to guide the team to an easy win.
Hobart Hurricanes, on the other hand, lost their last game against Melbourne Stars by 106 runs. Melbourne Stars notched a mammoth 273-run total in the first innings. Glenn Maxwell wreaked havoc with the bat and Hobart Hurricanes had no answer to that.
In reply, they managed 167 runs in the second innings. Ben McDermott scored 55 off 33 balls, while D Arcy Short played an unbeaten knock of 41 runs in 36 balls.
Nevertheless, they should forget the memories of that defeat and come into the game with a positive mindset. Whoever team lose this match will be knocked out of the tournament. Given how both the teams have performed thus far, expect Adelaide Strikers to win the match. Nevertheless, one can expect a cracker of a contest on Thursday.
