The 43rd match of the BBL 2021-22 will have Melbourne Stars take on Adelaide Strikers at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Monday. Both the teams have fared poorly this season and are currently occupying the bottom two spots on the points table.
Melbourne Stars are languishing at the bottom of the table, having managed only 3 wins in 8 matches. Two out of their last four matches got abandoned due to the Covid-19 concerns, while the other two resulted in defeats. Prior to the abandoned game on Friday, Melbourne Stars suffered a five-wicket defeat at the hand of Melbourne Renegades.
Melbourne Stars were bundled out for 126 runs in the first innings against superb bowling from the Renegades. Travis Dean (32 off 26) and Cartwright (41 off 29) got starts but couldn’t come them into big scores. The likes of Justin Avendano (6 off 9), Maxwell (7 off 9) and Patrick Rowe got out on low scores. Melbourne Renegades chased down the score in 18 overs. Ahead of their next game, The Stars would look to showcase a better performance with the bat and get back to winning ways.
Adelaide Strikers, on the other hand, are sitting second from the bottom of the points table. They have managed to secure only 2 wins out of 9. Their last game got abandoned due to covid-19. However, prior to that, they won against Hobart Hurricanes and would take a lot of confidence from that game. Skipper Peter Siddle exhibited a sensational display of fast bowling as he picked 5 for 26 runs to help his team bundle out Hobart Hurricanes for just 126 runs in the first innings.
Adelaide Strikers chased down the score in just 15.1 overs, thanks to a brilliant knock from Mathew Short. The Adelaide Strikers opener played a sensational knock of 72 runs off 44 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes. The team would be hoping that he replicates a similar knock on Monday.
