IPL 2022 Finals: Gujarat Titans, the debutant, lifted the IPL title in their first-ever season after beating Rajasthan by 7 wickets on Sunday at Narendra Modi International. They were brilliant both with the bat and ball. Gujarat restricted Rajasthan to just 130 runs at the end of the first innings.
Jaiswal played a cameo of 22 runs in 16 balls before getting out off Yash Dayal on the last ball of the 4th over. Rajasthan had scored 44 runs at the end of the power play. They needed Sanju Samson and Buttler to put on a partnership but the former once again got out after getting a decent start.
Hardik and Rashid Khan didn’t let Rajasthan change gears in the middle overs as they bowled beautifully after the powerplay. D Padikkal got out after scoring just 2 runs in 10 balls, however, it was Jos Buttler’s (39 off 35) wicket, which saw a collapse.
Rajasthan couldn’t recover from there on and could only manage to score 130 runs in the first innings. Hardik Pandya bowled beautifully in the final as he picked 3 wickets for 17 runs in 4 overs. Rashid Khan (1 for 18), once again, was brilliant with the ball.
Gujarat Titans, in reply, chased down the score in just 18.1 overs. Gujarat didn’t make the best of the starts. Prasidh Krishna accounted for the wicket of Saha (5 off 7) in the 2nd over and Trent Boult had Mathew Wade (8 of 10) in the 5th over to leave the team reeling at 23 for 2 in 4.3 overs.
However, Hardik Pandya then joined hands with Gill and the duo added 63 runs for the 3rd wicket. That partnership took the game away from Rajasthan. Chahal got the wicket of Pandya in the 14th over but no other wicket fell thereafter.
David Miller (32 off 19) and Shubman Gill (45 off 43) remained unbeaten till the end and guided the team home with ease.
