CSK vs LSG: The 7th match of the IPL 2022 will have Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Thursday at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams haven’t started their campaign on a winning note. Chennai Super Kings played their first match against Kolkata Knight Riders and lost the game by 6 wickets.
Batting first, CSK could only manage to score 131 runs in the first innings. They made an awful start as both Ruturaj Gaikwad and Conway got out on low scores. Robin Uthappa failed to convert the start into a big score, while the likes of Rayudu and Ravindra Jadeja couldn’t get going either. However, a half-century from MS Dhoni in just 38 deliveries helped the team reach a respectable total on the board.
The bowling too didn’t inspire a lot of confidence. Dwayne Bravo picked three wickets and gave the team some hope. However, the other bowlers didn’t look threatening and, as a result of that, the team chased down the score in 18.3 overs. Heading into their next game, CSK would look to exhibit a better performance with both bat and ball.
LSG, on the other hand, would be disappointing to have lost their first game against Gujarat by 5 wickets. They could have easily won the game but KL Rahul’s decision to bowl Deepak Hooda and Ravi Bishnoi in the death over cost them the game. Nevertheless, he would learn from his mistakes and improve. Lucknow Super Giants made a horrible start with the bat in the last game, losing 4 wickets for just 29 runs.
However, Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni then stitched a wonderful partnership to help the team recover from that position. Hooda scored 55 runs in 41 balls, while Ayush Badoni managed to score 54 runs in 41 deliveries. Thanks to those two contributions, Lucknow managed to score 158 runs in the first innings.
The bowling wasn’t as great as they would have wanted. Gujarat chased down the score with 2 balls to spare. It will be interesting if they make any changes for the next game.
