CSK vs PBKS: Punjab Kings returned to winning ways after beating Chennai Super Kings by 54 runs on Sunday at Brabourne Stadium. Interestingly, Ravindra Jadeja had won the toss and elected to bowl first. Punjab, however, managed to post a competitive score of 180 runs on the board.
Liam Livingstone starred with the bat as he smashed 60 runs in just 32 balls, a knock which was laced with 5 fours and as many sixes. Besides, the likes of Shikhar Dhawan (33 off 24) and Jitesh Sharma (26 off 17) also made valuable contributions with the bat. For CSK, Chris Jordan bowled beautifully as he returned with figures of 2 for 23 runs in 4 overs. Dwaine Pretorius also bowled well for his figures of 2 for 30.
In pursuit of that score, CSK made the worst possible start. Debutant Vaibhav Arora ran through CSK’s top-order, picking the wickets of Uthappa and Ravindra Jadeja. None of the bowlers could make a solid contribution with the bat in the top-six. CSK had lost five wickets for just 36 runs.
Shivam Dube played a valiant knock of 57 runs in 30 balls. However, once he got out, it was all but over for CSK. In the end, they were bundled out for 126 runs, thereby falling 54 runs short of the target.
Punjab Kings were brilliant with the ball. Rahul Chahar (3 for 25), once again, produced a brilliant spell with the ball. Vaibhav Arora (2 for 21) produced a stunning opening spell, while Livingstone picked two wickets as well.
CSK vs PBS Man of the match:
Liam Livingstone became the man of the match for his all-round display of cricket in the victory. He scored 60 runs off 32 deliveries and took 2/25 laced with a couple of catches while fielding.
With that win, Punjab has moved to number four on the points table. Chennai Super Kings have now played three games and are yet to win a match in the tournament, which incidentally is the first time in the history of IPL.
