CSK vs SRH: Defending champions, Chennai Super Kings lost their fourth consecutive game on Saturday after losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets at DY Patil Sports Academy. Once again, they put in a dismal batting performance, having managed only 154 runs in the first innings. The likes of Uthappa and Gaikwad got starts but couldn’t convert them into big scores.
Moeen Ali and Ambati Rayudu put in a decent partnership. However, once the duo got out, wickets fell in quick succession and CSK lost the momentum. Ali was the top scorer with the bat as he managed 48 runs in 35 balls, while Rayudu scored 27 off 27 balls. Later, a 15-ball 27-run cameo from Ravindra Jadeja helped CSK reach a reasonable total on the board.
For SRH, it was a collective bowling effort. The likes of Washington Sundar and T Natarajan both picked two wickets each, while the likes of Bhuvneshwar, Jansen and Markram picked one apiece. In response, SRH chased down the score in just 17.4 overs.
The opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson set the tone for the win. The duo stitched a brilliant 89-run partnership for the opening wicket before Williamson got out on 32 off 40 balls. Abhishek Sharma, however, scoring runs all around the ground and went on to score a sensational knock of 75 runs in 59 balls. Rahul Tripathi gave him valuable support, scoring 39 runs in 15 balls, including five boundaries and two sixes.
Chennai Super Kings are yet to earn their first points in the tournament. CSK will play their next game against RCB on Tuesday at DY Patil Sports Academy.
