On the other hand, Gujarat Titans have also made a winning start. They won their first game against Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets. The Titans restricted Super Giants to 158 runs in the first innings, courtesy of a sensational spell from Mohammed Shami. He returned with a sensational spell of 3 for 25 in 4 overs. Rashid Khan (1 for 27) also bowled a pretty good spell.
In pursuit of the total, the likes of Mathew Wade (30 off 29) and Hardik Pandya (33 off 28) looked solid with the bat but couldn’t convert the start into a big score. At 11.5 overs, Gujarat was in trouble at 78 for 4. However, Rahul Tewatia joined hands with David Miller and the duo recovered pretty well.
Tewatia played an unbeaten knock of 40 runs in 24 balls, while David Miller also contributed 30 runs in 21 balls. Thanks to those valuable contributions, Gujarat Titans chased down the score in 19.4 overs. Heading into the next game, Gujarat Titans would be looking to continue the winning momentum.
