GT vs MI 2022: Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar will likely make his IPL debut against Gujarat Titans at the Brabourne Stadium tonight. Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene has lightened up the rumors of Arjun’s debut at a pre-match press conference ahead of Mumbai Indians’ upcoming fixture of the season.
Arjun Tendulkar has been a part of the Mumbai Indians squad for the past couple of years. He was picked for his base price of Rs. 20 Lakh in both years. As Mumbai Indians stand no chance of qualification, they are likely to give chance to the youngsters who are willing to express themselves on the field.
Earlier in the day, Mumbai Indians social media handle posted a video of Arjun Tendulkar bowling in the nets. This was probably a strong hint that the management and support staff are considering his debut. When asked Jayawardene about the probability of his debut, Mahela asserted that Arjun is part of the Mumbai Indians squad and the possibility of him playing into the XI cannot be ruled out.
Mumbai Indians are struggling to find the correct combination. After a collapse in the initial part of the season, Mumbai Indians tried and gave chance to many youngsters including Hrithik Shokeen and Kumar Kartikeya Singh. After a win against Rajasthan Royals in the last game, Captain Rohit Sharma will likely make only a few changes including that of Tendulkar.
If the scenario turns out to be in favor of the youngster, it will be interesting to watch the son of a legendary cricketer taking on his debut IPL match. On such a big stage, Arjun might probably be nervous about his performance but it will be interesting to find out whether the Mumbai Indians management provides a chance to Tendulkar.
