IPL 2022: Since the start of the IPL 2022, the Delhi Capitals have had injury difficulties in their team. Initially, South African bowler Anrich Nortje was ruled out, and now Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh is still recovering from an injury sustained on the Pakistan trip.
In terms of results, Delhi has had a hit-or-miss start to the season. They have won over the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders, but have lost to the Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans.
During the IPL 2022 mega auction, the DC paid Rs 6.5 crore for Mitchell Marsh. During his team’s T20 World Cup 2021 final victory, the Australian was named “Player of the Match.”
DC was supposed to replace him, but they decided to incorporate him into their team so that he could complete his recovery in India.
Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, DC’s head coach, had earlier mentioned the game against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 10 as a possible return date for Marsh, but he didn’t appear in that now.
Their problems have now been exacerbated by the news that Marsh is still recovering from his injury and is slated to miss the next three to four games.
“Mitch is still being assessed. There’s some time before our next game, so we may get a clearer idea closer to that,” a source in the know was quoted as saying by ‘The Telegraph’.
The team’s next encounter is against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday, April 16, and Marsh’s absence appears to be a foregone conclusion. Aside from that, the high-profile signing may miss the following two games against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Marsh is expected to return to the blade in the return leg against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 28.
