IPL 2022: Shikhar Dhawan played his 200th IPL match when he represented Punjab Kings against Chennai Super Kings on Monday. It wasn’t the only milestone he completed in that game. In the same match, he also became only the second player after Virat Kohli to complete 6000 runs in the Indian Premier League. As a result of that, he sits at the second position in the highest run-getter list in IPL.
The southpaw also made another record on the same night. He has now surpassed Virat Kohli to become the highest run-getter against CSK. Shikhar Dhawan has now 1037 runs to his name against Chennai. Besides, he has hit 8 half-centuries against the second most successful outfit in the Indian Premier League.
On Monday, Shikhar Dhawan also scored his 46th fifty overall in his IPL career. Shikhar Dhawan was bought by Punjab Kings for 8.25 crores at the mega auction. His 88-run knock against CSK, on Monday, helped Punjab return to winning ways.
Riding on a stellar unbeaten knock of 88 runs in 59 balls from Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab managed to score 187 runs on a slow pitch in Mumbai. B Rajapaksa gave him valuable support with a 42-run knock of 32 balls. Ambati Rayudu kept CSK’s hopes alive in the second innings by playing a blistering knock of 78 runs in 39 balls. However, once he got out in the 18th over, CSK couldn’t catch up with the required rate. In the end, the Yellow Army fell 11 runs short of the target.
Punjab Kings now has four wins in eight matches, and, thus, are sitting at number six on the points table. Chennai Super Kings, on the other hand, remains second from the bottom of the points table.
