Sunrisers Hyderabad has signed left-arm medium-pacer Sushant Mishra as a substitute for injured Saurabh Dubey for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2022. Sushant, a 21-year-old Ranchi native, has played four first-class matches and taken 13 wickets. The IPL announced on Wednesday that UP medium bowler Dubey has a back ailment and would miss the rest of the competition. This season, Dubey hasn’t played a single match for SRH. Sushant will be joining SRH for Rs 20 lakh.
“He had a knock on the same hand where he split his webbing, which is awful. It had entirely healed, but he re-hurt that area; it isn’t injured to the point where it needs to be re-stitched, but it has been re-injured,” SRH head coach Tom Moody remarked during the post-match presentation.
“But, sadly, he wasn’t in a position to bowl. Given that he has such a crucial bowler for us, it had a significant impact on us in the early stages of bowling,” Moody added.
SRH who is currently placed at 5th place in IPL standings has blown hot and cold this season. After losing the first two matches the Hyderabad-based franchise made an exceptional comeback winning back-to-back five matches. But after that, they again lost two matches in a row.
Their recent match was against CSK in which they lost by 13 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 99 runs and helped CSK to reach a mammoth total of 202. SRH was in the game but eventually lost the match by 13 runs. Nicholas Pooran was the highest scorer who scored 64 runs in just 33 balls.
SRH will lock horns with Delhi Capitals on 5th May at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. They will look to win and earn crucial two points and make a place in the top four.
