The duo put on a 93-run opening partnership and set the tone for a big score on the board. Prithvi Shaw scored his second half-century in consecutive games. He made 51 runs in just 29 balls, while David Warner notched his maiden half-century for Delhi this season.
The southpaw scored 61 runs in just 45 balls, a knock that had 6 fours and 2 sixes. Pant also played a handy knock of 27 runs in 14 balls, including two boundaries and two sixes. Axar Patel (22 off 14) and Shardul Thakur (29 runs off 11) later valuable cameos to take the team to a mammoth score of 215 runs at the end of the first innings.

For Kolkata, Pat Cummins, once again, had a forgettable outing with the ball. He conceded 51 runs in 4 overs, while Umesh Yadav too went for plenty of runs. Narine was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 for 21 runs in 4 overs.
In pursuit of the total, Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t have a great start as their openers got out without making a significant contribution with the bat. Ajinkya Rahane, once again, had a forgettable day with the bat. Rahane made 8 runs in 14 balls, while Iyer could 18 runs in 8 balls.
Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana revived KKR’s hopes after stitching a valuable partnership. Rana added 30 runs in 20 balls, while Shreyas Iyer scored 54 runs in 33 balls. However, Kuldeep Yadav ran through KKR’s batting line-up in the second half of the innings. He picked four wickets for just 35 runs in 4 overs and put KKR in all sorts of trouble. Andre Russell lacked support from the other end and KKR, in the end, fell 44 runs short of the target.
