MI vs RCB 2022: The 18th match of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to be played between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Saturday. The most successful franchise in the history of the tournament, Mumbai Indians have had a horrible start to their IPL 2022 campaign.
They have played three games and have lost all three of them. Mumbai Indians are still looking for their first win of the tournament. Suryakumar Yadav’s arrival is a big boost for them. He hit a half-century in his very first game and Tilak Verma is also exhibiting consistent performances. Thanks to their knocks, Mumbai reached 161 runs in the first innings against KKR in the last game. Rohit Sharma is short of runs. He needs to come back into form.
Kolkata Knight Riders chased down 162 runs in 16 overs against Mumbai Indians as Daniel Sams went for 50 runs in his three overs. Pat Cummins smacked the joint-fastest fifty and fastest 50 by an Australian player in the IPL. Cummins smashed 35 runs of Sam’s third over en route to victory. No other bowler apart from Bumrah looked inspiring. Although Bumrah has also been struggling for wickets. He needs to step up to the plate as well. It will be interesting to what changes Mumbai make in their bowling department. Facing them are Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are off to a pretty good start. They have 2 wins in 3 matches so far. RCB is coming into this game on the back of a 4-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals.
The bowling unit has fared well so far. Akash Deep is the only bowler who hasn’t looked too threatening. He might be replaced in the next game. Batting, though, is a concern. The partnership between Dinesh Karthik and Shahbaz Ahmed won them the game against RR. But the likes of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli also need to step up to the plate. In a major boost for them, Maxwell is available and he is likely to play the next game on Saturday.
