MI vs RR: Rajasthan Royals continued their winning streak in their second game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday at DY Patil Sports Academy. Riding on a sensational ton from Jos Buttler, Rajasthan notched a mammoth score of 193 runs in the first innings. He scored his hundred in 68 deliveries, including 11 fours and 5 sixes. The likes of Sanju Samson (30 off 21) and Hetmyer (35 off 14) also made vital contributions with the bat.
It was a dismal bowling performance from Mumbai Indians. Jasprit Bumrah, however, was sensational. He returned with figures of 3 for 17 runs in 4 overs. In pursuit of the total, Mumbai Indians didn’t get off to a great start. Rohit Sharma started his innings with a boundary but couldn’t continue for too long. He got out after scoring 10 runs in 5 balls, while Anmolpreet Singh (5 off 4) also followed him soon. Mumbai, at that stage, were in trouble at 40 for 2.
However, Ishan Kishan then stitched an 81-run partnership for the third wicket to bring Mumbai back into the game. However, just when it looked like the game was going out of hands from Rajasthan, Boult sent Ishan Kishan (54 off 43) back to the hut. Two overs later, Ashwin accounted for the wicket of Tilak Varma (61 off 33) to help Rajasthan get back into the game.
Mumbai Indians couldn’t recover from thereon and, eventually, fell 23 runs short of the target. For Rajasthan, it was a collective bowling effort. The likes of Navdeep Saini and Yuzvendra Chahal picked two wickets each, while Boult, Krishna, and Ashwin picked one apiece.
