PBKS vs MI LIVE SCORE: Mumbai Indians suffered their fifth consecutive defeat on Thursday after losing to Punjab Kings by 12 runs at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Punjab’s deadly opening duo of Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan gave the team a solid start with the bat. The duo added 97 runs for the opening wicket. Mayank Agarwal scored his first half-century of the season. He scored 52 runs in 32 balls, a knock which was laced with 6 fours and 2 sixes.
Shikhar Dhawan, on the other hand, played a sensational knock of 70 runs in 50 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes. However, Punjab slowed down once the duo got out as the likes of Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow got out cheaply. Jitesh Sharma (30 off 15) and Shahrukh Khan (15 off 6) then played vital cameos to help the team notch 198 runs at the end of the first innings.
For Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah fought hard with the ball and finished with returns of 1 for 28. However, he lacked support from the other bowlers.
In reply, Rohit Sharma, once again, made a rollicking start but couldn’t convert that into a big score. He got out after scoring 28 runs in 17 balls. Ishan Kishan also fell cheaply for 3 runs in 6 balls. Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma then stitched a valuable partnership to lead a solid recovery. Brevis played an outstanding knock of 49 runs in 25 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes.
Mumbai Indians were 131 for 4 after 12.5 overs. Kieron Pollard, then, unfortunately, got run-out but Mumbai Indians were still in the game still Suryakumar Yadav was at the crease. He played a valuable knock of 43 runs in 30 balls. But once he got out, it was all but over for Mumbai. In the end, MI fell 12 runs short of the target. Punjab Kings, on the other hand, registered their third win and move to the third on the table.
