The 31-year-old was dropped from the T 20 world cup which took the fans by surprise. Before representing Rajasthan Royals, Yuzi represented two other franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL) so far, i.e., Royal challenger Bangalore and Mumbai Indians.
The leg-spinner talked about an incident that “not many people know about,” according to him. He told of a near-miss in 2013 when an inebriated Mumbai Indians player, who Chahal would not name, hung him from the balcony.
“Some individuals are aware of my story. I’ve never mentioned it, and I’ve never shared it. I was a member of the Mumbai Indians in 2013. In Bengaluru, we had a match. Following that, there was a get-together. I’m not going to mention the athlete that was extremely inebriated. He was quite inebriated; he was staring at me and simply calling my name. He hanged me from the balcony and took me outside” Chahal told Ashwin and Karun Nair during the video.
“My arms were wrapped around him. I was on the 15th floor if I had lost my grasp. Suddenly, a large number of people who were present arrived and brought the situation under control. I almost passed out. They offered me water, and it made me realize how responsible you should be whenever you go out. So, this was one event in which I thought I narrowly escaped with my life. I would have fallen if there had been even the tiniest mistake,” he added.
Chahal has played three matches and taken seven wickets for Rajasthan Royals so far at an economy of 5.25.
