Jharkhand Premier League is one of the newest domestic T20 leagues to be introduced in India. The T20 tournament was an initiative of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) with the idea of fostering the budding talent in Bihar & Jharkhand states.
The tournament featured players from six different zones in its inaugural edition in September 2020. The JSCA International Cricket Complex Stadium in Ranchi became the host of the league for hosting 33 matches over the period of 17 days.
While all the sports events in India were shelved due to COVID-19 lockdown, Jharkhand T20 League became the first tournament to be broadcasted live in the country.
And for conducting the tournament, JSCA also signed a contract with Karbonn for title sponsorship and Fan code for live streaming the entire tournament on their app. The board also partnered with a sports marketing firm TCM sports for conducting the inaugural tournament.
“We are happy to partner with Jharkhand Premier League and live-stream all the matches on our platform. This partnership is in line with FanCode’s endeavour to bring sporting action to Indian sports fans and also a good opportunity to showcase domestic talent to a wider audience in India.” FanCode Spokesperson said.
Jharkhand Premier League Teams:
A total of six teams from across six zones participated in the inaugural Jharkhand T20 League last year: Ranchi Raiders, Dumka Daredevils, Dhanbad Dynamos, Singhbhum Strikers, Jamshedpur Jugglers and Bokaro Blasters.
“The six teams representing six zones include Ranchi Raiders, Dumka Daredevils, Dhanbad Dynamos, Singhbhum Strikers, Jamshedpur Jugglers and Bokaro Blasters,” JSCA secretary Sanjay Sahay was quoted as saying in the Telegraph.
Hometown players such as MS Dhoni, Shahbaz Nadeem, Varun Aaron, Virat Singh, Monu Kumar and Anukul Roy did not feature in the tournament due to their IPL commitments.
All the teams played 10 matches each in the tournament with Dhanbad Dynamos emerged title winners of the inaugural edition. They won seven of 10 matches, while Bokaro Blasters finished as runner-ups with six wins on their name.
