Playing his first match of the season, Jason Roy ripped apart Lahore Qalandars’ with some sensational power-hitting display.
In pursuit of a 204-run total, Jason Roy smashed a brilliant 116-run knock in just 57 deliveries, a knock which was laced with 11 fours and 8 sixes. He didn’t spare any bowler and rarely mistimed a delivery off his willow. Be it Shaheen Afridi or Rashid Khan or Harris Rauf, Roy smashed everyone out of the park. James also played a brilliant hand of 49 runs in 38 balls, while M Nawaz scored 25 in 12 balls. Both the batsmen stayed unbeaten and guided the team home in 19.3 overs.
All the bowlers of Lahore Qalandars, who bowled at least 3 overs with the ball, went for more than 8 runs an over. Haris Rauf picked 1 for 48, while Shaheen Afridi went wicket-less and conceded 40 runs in 4 overs. Zaman Khan, the hero of the previous game, went for 42 runs in 3.3 overs, while Rashid Khan conceded 32 in 4 overs.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars put on a mammoth score of 204 runs in the first innings. Fakhar Zaman, once again, set the tone for a high-scoring total. He scored 70 runs in just 45 deliveries. His partner, Shafique also continued his good form with a 32-run knock in just 27 deliveries. Later, Harry Brook (41 off 17) and David Wiese (22 off 9) made valuable contributions to guide the team to a 200-plus total on the board.
