PBKS vs SRH Live Score: Punjab Kings finished their campaign on a winning note after beating Hyderabad by 5 wickets on Sunday at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. With that win, they end at number six on the table but would be disappointed to not have reached the playoffs.
Talking about the game, SRH batted first under the leadership of a new skipper in Bhuvneshwar Kumar. They didn’t get a good start as Priyam Garg got out early. However, Tripathi then joined hands with Abhishek Sharma and steadied the ship. Both played some heart-warming shots but neither of them could go on to play a big knock.
By the end of 8 overs, Hyderabad had scored 59 runs for the loss of one wicket. However, in the next six overs, Hyderabad lost four wickets, thanks to a superb bowling spell of Harpreet Brar.
The Punjab spinner got rid of Tripathi (20 off 18) in the 9th over, before picking the wicket of Abhishek Sharma (43 off 32) and Markram (21 off 17) in the 11th and 13th over respectively. Markram’s wicket in the 13th over meant Hyderabad was in all sorts of trouble at 96 for 5.
At that stage, it looked like Hyderabad would crumble under 120. But Washington Sundar and Romario Shepherd stitched a fine partnership to take them to a reasonable score of 157 runs in the first innings.
Punjab wins it with ease
In the second innings, Jonny Bairstow got the team off to a blistering start. He made 23 off 15 but got out bowled off Farooqi in the 3rd over. Shahrukh Khan looked good for his 10-ball 19 but couldn’t score a big knock either. Besides, Mayank Agarwal’s (1 off 4) batting woes continued as well. Punjab at that stage was at 71 for 3 in 7.5 overs.
However, a 41-run partnership between Dhawan and Livingstone meant the game drifted out of the hands of Hyderabad. Dhawan got out after scoring 39 off 32 balls in the 13th over but the English cricketer remained unbeaten knock of 49 runs in 22 balls to take the team home in 15.1 overs.
