AUS vs SL 3rd ODI: Sri Lanka won the third ODI by 6 wickets against Australia on Sunday and took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series. Batting first, Australia managed to score 291 runs on the board in the first innings. Skipper, Aaron Finch led from the front with the bat as he smashed top-notch innings of 62 runs in 85 balls.
The likes of Mitchell Marsh and Labuschagne got starts but couldn’t convert that into big scores. However, the likes of Alex Carey and Travis Head later played valuable knocks to take the team to a solid total in the end. Carey played a handy knock of 49 runs in 52 balls, while Head played an unbeaten knock of 7o runs in 65 deliveries.
Maxwell also played a great cameo of 33 runs in 18 deliveries, a knock with 3 fours and 1 six. For Sri Lanka, Vandersay was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 for 49 in 10 overs. Besides, Chameera, Wellalage and de Silva picked one wicket each.
Sri Lanka ease past the target
In reply, Sri Lanka chased down the score in 48.3 overs, with 6 wickets in hand. Sri Lanka lost the first wicket in the 8th over with 42 runs on the board in the form of Dickwella.
However, Pathum Nissanka then joined hands with Kusal Mendis and the duo stitched a match-winning 213-run partnership to help the team get closer to the target. Kusal Mendis got out retired hurt after scoring 87 runs in 85 balls, while Pathum Nissanka played a sensational knock of 137 runs in 147 balls.
Later, Charith Asalanka guided the team home with a 12-ball 13. The fourth ODI is slated to be played at R. Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday.
