India vs West Indies: India and West Indies are set to take on each other in the first of the three-match T20 series on 16th February, Wednesday. India has put in brilliant performances in the ODI series and would look to replicate similar performances in the T20 internationals as well.
India preview:
Unfortunately, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, and Washington Sundar were ruled out due to the injury. In absence of KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan will open the innings with Rohit Sharma. In the middle-order, India has got the likes of Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant. Virat Kohli is not in the best of form and it will be interesting if he could come back well in the T20 series.
India’s senior fast bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested for the series. In their absence, the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, M Siraj, Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan will share the fast bowling duties.
Yuzvendra Chahal will be the biggest bet in the spin department. It is worth mentioning that the likes of Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jadeja, and Washington Sundar are all unavailable due to injuries. Kuldeep Yadav has been drafted into the side and it will be interesting to see if gets a chance to feature in the playing XI.
West Indies preview:
West Indies, on the other hand, would be keen to make a strong comeback on the T20 side. On paper, they have a solid squad at their disposal. Brandon King and Kyle Mayers are likely to open the side, while the middle-order will have the likes of Nicholas Pooran, Roston Chase, and Kieron Pollard among others.
West Indies’ strength lies in the fact that they have a number of all-rounders in the squad. The presence of Odean Smith, Romario Shepherd, Rovman Powell, and Jason Holder should keep this team in good stead.
