The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the deadline for all the cricketing boards to submit the final squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, scheduled to be held later this year.
All the cricket boards have been told to submit the squads by 15th September. India just played a T20 series against South Africa. They now have only four opportunities to finalize their squad.
India will next be playing a T20I series against Ireland. It comprises two matches, scheduled to get underway on the 26th and 28th of June 2022. After that, the India tour of England will begin, which comprises of 1Tests, 3 T20Is, and 3 ODIs.
Later, West Indies will host India for a three-match T20I series, scheduled to be played between 29th July to 2nd August 2022. India will then take part in Asia Cup, which is scheduled to start on 27th August 2022. The official schedule is yet to be announced.
India still has a lot of questions to be answered in terms of the squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. Who will open the batting alongside Rohit Sharma is still a major question. Virat Kohli’s form is also a form. Who will be the other two fast bowlers to share the fast bowling duties alongside Jasprit Bumrah also remains to be seen. Hopefully, India would be able to compile a strong squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
India’s next assignment is a two-match T20 series against Ireland. Hardik Pandya will be leading the team, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar will assume the vice-captaincy duties.
