BAN vs SA 2nd Test: The second and final Test of the two-match series between Bangladesh and South Africa is scheduled to be played at St. George’s Park from 8th April to 12th April 2022. South Africa won the first Test by a huge margin of 220 runs. They would be looking to win the second Test and thereby seal the series.
South Africa batted first in the first Test and managed to post a 367-run total in the first innings. Dean Elgar (67 off 101) and Temba Bavuma (93 off 190) came up with valuable contributions with the ball. As for Bangladesh’s bowling attack, Khaled Ahmed picked four wickets for 92 runs in 25 overs.
Bangladesh, in reply, managed 298 runs in the second innings. Mahmudul Hasan Joy starred with the bat as he scored 137 runs in 326 balls. However, he lacked support from the other end. Harmer was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa as he claimed four wickets for 103 runs, while Williams scalped three wickets for 54 runs in 18.5 overs.
South Africa batted again and was bundled out for 204 runs. Elgar (64 off 102) notched his second half-century in the game but there weren’t handy contributions from the other end. Still, they managed to set a target of 273 runs.
In pursuit of the target, Bangladesh was folded for just 53 runs, thereby losing the game by 220 runs. A lot of decisions didn’t go their way due to umpiring errors but they wouldn’t be too happy with their batting performance. For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj picked seven wickets for 32 runs (7/32), while Simon Harmer returned with figures of 3 for 21 in nine overs.
For the 2nd Test, the visitors will miss out on the services of Shakib Al Hasan, while, veteran opener Tamim Iqbal makes a comeback after the break.
