BAN vs ZIM: According to recent reports, Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the remainder of the Zimbabwe tour due to personal reasons. The news has come out just a day after reports claiming that he will be available for the upcoming T20 series against Zimbabwe.
It has now been understood that Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the limited-overs series against Zimbabwe altogether. A BCB statement in this regard informed:
“Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the remainder of the tour in Zimbabwe for family reasons. Mushfiqur will leave Harare later today and travel to Dhaka… The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requests that all respect the privacy of Mushfiqur and his family at this time.”
As far as the tour series is concerned, Bangladesh has won the one-off Test match against Zimbabwe by 220 runs. The three-match ODI series between the sides will be held between 16th July and 20th July 2021. This will be followed by three T20 internationals, scheduled to be held on 23, 25, and 27th July 2021.
Following the Zimbabwe tour, Bangladesh will play a five-match T20 series against Australia, starting from 2nd August 2021. Both teams will reach Bangladesh on 29th July following which they will enter their respective bio-bubbles. Australia is currently involved in a T20 series against West Indies. They have lost the five-match T20 series 3-0, with two matches left to be played.
Sadly, the Australia-Bangladesh series might get postponed due to a sudden spike in the rise of Covid-19 cases in Bangladesh. The country went into a strict lockdown at the start of July. It remains to be seen if the series would continue as planned or gets canceled.
