England vs West Indies: England is all to play against West Indies in a three-match Test series. The first Test is slated to be played from March 8-12 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. England’s recent form doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.
They suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Australia but would be looking to turn their fortunes around. Joe Root and Co. have announced a 12-member squad for the first Test. A new pair of openers, Zak Crawley and Alex Lees will open the innings for the team. The middle-order is quite solid, having got the presence of Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Foakes, and Dan Lawrence.
As for the fast bowling unit, Mark Wood has recovered fully. He will be playing the first Test and will share the fast bowling duties alongside Chris Woakes and Craig Overton. Ollie Robinson has been ruled out of the first Test due to injury. Spinner Jack Leach has also been added to the 12-member squad. Whether he makes it into the playing 11 remains to be seen.
Facing them are the West Indies, who too lost their last Test series by a margin of 2-0. They have made a lot of changes to the squad. They have named a 13-member squad for the first Test. Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite will continue to open the batting alongside Jermaine Blackwood. The middle-order looks quite promising too as they have got the likes of Nkrumah Bonner, Shamarh Brooks, and Jason Holder to name a few.
West Indies have added a lot of pacers to the squad, namely Jayden Seales, Kemar Roach, Anderson Phillip, and Alzarri Joseph. Who all makes into the eleven remains to be seen.
