BCCI President Sourav Ganguly hailed the Indian team for their match-winning performance against Australia in third ODI. The Indian team was playing to save its dignity in the final ODI, after falling 2-0 in the first two ODIs at SCG.
This time Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss for the first time in the series and opted to bowl first. This time Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan opened the inning for India but that didn’t work for the team.
India looked good until the 20th over before losing three back to back in the next 10 overs. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja took over the responsibility from there and reach a respective total.
The duo stitched a 162-run partnership and played flawless range of shots in their miraculous stay at the crease. Pandya blasted an unbeaten 92 off 76 balls, carting the Australian bowlers for 7 boundaries and one six.
While Jadeja stayed put on the other end and charged down with 66* runs and helped put up a total of 302 runs in 50 overs.
Later, the bowlers helped India win the match after finally getting the hang of the Australian conditions. The pacers combinedly took 7 wickets in the win while spinners chipped in with 3 wickets as the aiding touch.
After the win, Sourav Ganguly tweeted and congratulated the Indian team despite the series loss as he tweeted:
Pandya scored 90 runs in the first ODI and the match-winning 92* in the final ODI game at Canberra today. While Jadeja played all the three matches and made a significant contribution as an all rounder for the side.
Both the teams are now slated to face each other in the first T20I match at Manuka Oval in Canberra on December 4.
