Star all rounder Hardik Pandya produced a stellar performance for India in the just-concluded white-ball series against Australia. The all rounder garnered praises from all over with his two 90+ scores in the ODI series, followed by a match-winning knock in the 2nd T20I.

So immense was his influence with the bat that former Indian player Mohammad Kaif and Australian spinner Shane Warne even batted for his name in the Test squad. Pandya won the player of the series after the third T20I match at SCG, the first after his return to international cricket.

Now that Virat Kohli and his men are heading onto the Test series, Pandya will now fly back to India after putting a prolific performance in the white-ball format.

The all-rounder confirmed he is “heading back home” during the post-match conference after the third T20I match on Tuesday.

“It’s a different ball game, I think I need to be, I mean I don’t mind but at the end of the day, the call is on the management,” Pandya said on Sunday.

On Sunday he had said he wouldn’t mind extending his stay with the team but now he revoked the same idea and chose to return back.

“I think I should head back home and spend some quality time with my family. I haven’t seen my child for four months, so I’d like to spend some time with family right now,” Pandya said during the post-match conference.

“Maybe in the future. I don’t know, maybe,” he responded on his Test return.

Last year he underwent his back surgey forcing him out of the Indian team for over six months. He was slated to make his return during the home series against South Africa in February.
