India vs Pakistan: Arch-rivals, India and Pakistan will square up against each other at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday in what will be the 16th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The last time when both these two sides met each other, India defeated Pakistan comfortably in a 2019 World Cup fixture.
There is no denying that India have a great record against Pakistan in the World Cups. Their record in the T20 format is no different. India and Pakistan have played against each other 5 times in T20 World Cup with India winning on all five occasions. Pakistan Cricket Team is yet to win a single game against India in the T20 World Cup. Ahead of their sixth meeting on Sunday, India will once again go into the contest as favorites.
India vs Pakistan: Indian team preview
Their star opener, KL Rahul has been in supreme form with the bat. Given how he batted in IPL 2021 and in the warm-up fixture against England, there will be huge expectations from him. He will be alongside Rohit Sharma, who knows how to score runs at big stages.
Kohli’s form is a big concern but consistent run-scoring from Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant should release pressure off the Indian skipper. As far as the bowling is concerned, Jasprit Bumrah, M Shami, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the pace-bowling unit.
And as for the spin, India are most likely to go with Varun Chakravarthy in the important encounter. Pakistan have a good batting unit and Chakravarthy’s variations can prove handy.
India vs Pakistan: Pakistan preview
On the other hand, Pakistan too have a pretty decent line-up. Openers, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have scored the most number of runs in T20 cricket in 2021. The pair will be integral to the team’s fortune in the tournament. Fakhar Zaman’s ability to get going right from the onset of the innings makes him a decent bet at number three, followed by the experience of M Hafeez and Shoaib Malik.
The bowling attack too is pretty sorted. They have one of the best bowling unit, comprising the likes of Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi. The trio has played a plethora of games in UAE conditions and knows how to bowl on these surfaces. All in all, one could expect it to be a cracker of a contest but India should go in as favorites.
