Hardik Pandya is undoubtedly one of the biggest assets in the Indian Cricket Team. He made a significant contribution with both bat and ball in the recently concluded T20 series against England. Hardik contributed in the first ODI as well but didn’t bowl in the second ODI on Friday, which raised quite a few eyebrows.
However, after the completion of the second ODI, skipper Virat explained the reason behind the same. Virat explained that the team wanted to manage the workload of the Indian all-rounder, given that he is an important member of the team. Also, with the 5-match Test series against England coming up, Hardik needs to be completely fit.
“We need to manage his (Hardik) body. Need to understand where we need this skill set. Did utilize him in the T20Is but in the ODIs, it’s about managing his workload. We have Test cricket in England coming up too. So it’s important for us to have him fit,” Kohli told host broadcaster Star Sports at the post-match presentation on Friday.
Hardik made a stellar contribution with the ball in the fourth T20 against England, tilting the game in the favour of hosts. The fans hope the all-rounder remains fit and produce numerous such performances with both bat and ball.
Meanwhile, the third and final ODI between England and India will be played on Sunday at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The series is currently leveled at 1-1.
